It’s Interview Thursday, and time for another installment of Meet the Abundia 8!
This week: Jeani Habegger McAleer!
Where do you call home: Oak Park, IL (Technically, I’m a wannabe living in the next town over.)
How did you discover FA/HAES: Oddly, I discovered size acceptance while on my last diet. I was doing a diet with an online support component, and a bunch of us started a book club. Someone chose When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies by Hirschmann & Munter, and my life has never been the same.
How did you become one of the Abundia 8: Being in the right place at the right time. When Sandy & Leeann were finished with their time as leaders, a bunch of us got together to keep Abundia going. For me, Abundia is too important to let it fall by the wayside. I count on that weekend every year!
What is your FA/HAES philosophy: I believe all bodies are ok just as they are and that no one should be shamed for how their body looks or what it can/can’t do.
What’s your favorite FA/HAES website or book or resource: Ooo, tough one. I’m so thrilled that there are soooo many resources available out there now. One of my all-time favorites is Marilynn Wann’s Fat?So! book.
What one thing could you never give up: The interwebs.
Why are you amazingly awesome exactly as you are: I love my family and friends, but I believe we can only love and take care of others if we do the same for ourselves first. I’m amazingly awesome because I strive to do good things for myself as well as others.
